Exhibition

This free juried painting competition and art sale will be held at:

Devendorf Park
Carmel by the Sea, CA 93921

Having skipped the 2020 and 2021 seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we welcome back this public plein air event, intended to educate and inspire people of all ages about the visual arts. For the past few years, we have donated funds to the Youth Arts Collective (YAC), which over its two decades on the Monterey Peninsula has provided studio and exhibiton opportunities to over 800 local youths. Our donation goes towards gallery space, supplies, personal and long-term mentoring, art and life skills instruction, and many other benefits supplied by YAC.

We are pleased to announce that the 111th Annual Gold Medal Exhibition will be held at:

The Bowers Museumt

Since its 1909 inauguration, the California Art Club has been dedicated to promoting and supporting contemporary-traditional fine art through championing painting and sculpture that features representational subjects while utilizing classical skills. The annual Gold Medal Exhibition is the most vital platform for demonstrating the best of the realist genre. With an awareness of both the California Art Club’s mission and the high quality expectations of this exhibition, CAC artists are encouraged to submit artwork that best exemplifies their talents.

Painting California: Seascapes and Beach Towns

Paintings of the California Art Club

Book

This new art book, published by Skira Rizzoli, features the work of 200 top artists from the California Art Club and serves as a delightful tour guide of the coast of California, from north to south. The 276-page book focuses on the evocative seascapes, charming seaside towns, and beach communities that can be found in our beautiful state, from San Diego to Crescent City (at the Oregon border). It also fulfills the role of historian, giving glimpses into California’s past through the original artists of CAC.

As a contemporary California-based artist, Cathey is thrilled that two of her seascapes are included in this book! Please check it out and buy a copy for yourself. It would also make a wonderful gift as a coffee table book.
